A beautiful oak that would be an excellent choice to plant in any open and well-drained location with room for a large spreading tree.

Requires some time and attention to establish, but grows well in the dry, silty-sand soils of coastal Virginia. My seven year old tree has developed small acorns; well before its usual time.

Plant this tree for the next generation (very slow grower), but do plant one! Nothing is quite as majestic and impressive as a mature bur oak. Needs well drained soil.
