They have been selected by The Missouri Botanical Garden, along with partnering organizations, Powell Gardens, Mizzou Botanic Garden, the University of Missouri Extension, Missouri Landscape & Nursery Association, and the Illinois Green Industry Association as some of the best choices for the lower Midwest.

Selection Criteria include:

Easy to grow and maintain.
Not known to be invasive in our area.
Resistant or tolerant to diseases and insects.
Has outstanding ornamental value.
Reasonably available to purchase.
