Easily grown in average, medium, well-drained soils in full sun. Best in cold climates, and will not grow well south of USDA Zone 6.
JEAN'S DILLY is a smaller, slower growing version of P. glauca ‘Conica’ (dwarf Alberta spruce). It is an upright, narrow, conical evergreen tree that will grow only 2-4” per year, typically reaching 2-3’ tall over the first 10 years and eventually maxing out at about 5’ tall. It forms a perfect cone shape and never needs to be sheared. Light green needles are quite short (to 1/4” long) and are distinctively twisted at the ends of the shoots.
No serious insect or disease problems. Watch for spider mites.
Dwarf evergreen for foundation plantings, rock gardens or borders. Slow growth rate makes it an interesting container selection.
