Family Backpacks include hands-on activities for children to complete with a grown-up. These backpacks were designed for families with one or two kids, but additional booklets and paper are available upon request. The backpacks are recommended for families with children ages 6–12.
Family Backpacks are available at the Children’s Garden Ticket Fort from April through October on a first-come basis. An ID or credit card must be left as a deposit, and backpacks must be returned by 4 p.m.

Japanese Garden
This backpack includes a guidebook and materials to help you better understand and appreciate the Japanese Garden. Children can find a giant turtle, rake their own miniature gravel garden, build a pagoda of small blocks, and learn about lotus, bamboo and giant koi along the way.
Trees, Trees, Trees
This backpack includes a My Tree Book that children can fill out to learn more about trees. Activities include measuring the height of a tree, learning about tree cookies and products made from trees and more.
Art in the Garden
This backpack includes paper and art supplies that children can use to create their own works of art. Learn about sculptures in the Garden, try different drawing exercises or just let your young artist experiment on their own.
