Celebrate the turning of the season with an activity-filled weekend on Saturday Oct. 27 and Sunday Oct. 28. Closing weekend activities are included with Children’s Garden admission ($5 for children ages 3-12, adults are included with regular Garden admission).
Activities are available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on October 27 and 28:
· Bouquet Bounty: Gather a fall bouquet of seasonal plants and learn why cutting plants can actually help them grow. Children can learn how to send secret messages just by choosing certain colors and flowers.
· Seed Saver: Select seeds from plants in the Children’s Garden and take them home to start your own garden next spring.
· Daffodil Dig: Help plant the Children’s Garden Nature Explore ClassroomTM with bulbs and receive one to take home. When the Daffodils bloom at home, families will know it is time to return to the Children’s Garden.
· Official Taste-Tester: Fall is harvest time in the Children’s Garden edible container garden. Visitors will explore some favorite foods and try some new seasonal favorites.
Fall-themed face painting will also be available throughout the weekend. Special visitors include live birds from the World Bird Sanctuary who will visit from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Children and parents can enjoy live music by WildHeart from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
