This site by the National Museum of Natural History of the Smithsonian Institution contains a vast amount of information about their studies in Systematics, Evolution and Ecology.

Convention on Biological Diversity
Adopted at the Earth Summit (Rio de Janiero) in 1992, the Convention established three main goals: the conservation of biological diversity, the sustainable use of its components, and the fair and equitable sharing of the benefits from the use of genetic resources.

Expert Center for Taxonomic Identification (ETI)
Their mission is to develop and produce scientific and educational computer-aided information systems, to improve the general access to and promote the broad use of taxonomic and biodiversity knowledge worldwide.

Integrated Taxonomic Information System (ITIS)
An easily accessible database with reliable information on species names and their hierarchical classification. Includes documented taxonomic information of flora and fauna from both aquatic and terrestrial habitats.

International Code of Botanical Nomenclature
The new St. Louis code adopted in 1999.
