Dr. Tabita Randrianarivony, is the manager of ethnobotany research projects at Alandraza-Agnalavelo (Analavelona sacred forest) Protected Area in southwestern Madagascar, one of the two conservation sites managed by the William L. Brown Center (WLBC) of the Missouri Botanical Garden in Madagascar. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Biology and a Ph.D.in Ethnobotany from the University of Antananarivo-Madagascar. Her DEA studied the ecology and habitat of Madagascar’s Vaccinium. She has a MS in biotechnology from the University of Aix Marseille. Her doctoral work studied the various ways people around Analavelona forest use plants. She is a member of a Malagasy ethnopharmacological association.
Also, she was involved in the implementation process of three protected areas managed by MBG, during which she was the responsible for the socio-economic data collection and was in charge for the participatory areas mapping. This experience gave her a good and solid knowledge and backgrounds on community-based conservation approach.
