Overnights for School Groups
Students using telescope

Our programs are designed to immerse students in Missouri ecological field studies. Just 45 minutes from St. Louis, but a world away for young minds…

The Dana Brown Overnight Center (DBOC), located within Shaw Nature Reserve, offers school groups an opportunity to engage in more in-depth explorations of Missouri’s native ecosystems. Join us for hands-on, outdoor, real world, inquiry-based science!

Classes are available on a day-use basis or as a component of an overnight experience. Working with staff, classes may be customized to meet your objectives.

All groups who register for a program at the Dana Brown Overnight Center have access to the Adlyne Freund Center or the Assembly Building. All buildings within the Center are climate-controlled and include indoor restrooms.

Classes cost $5 per student, day or night.

Groups may register for a day program, a one-night stay or a multiple-night stay.

  • Day use groups pay class costs only.
  • Overnight guests may make use of up to four of our historic lodges, each housing between 14 and 19 students for a total of 60 students and 4 adults. Lodging is $20 per student for a one day/night stay, $30 per student for a two-night stay. Class costs are additional.
