Enjoy lunch in Sassafras, the Garden's cafe, located in the fully accessible Ridgway Visitor Center. Sassafras is the first Certified Green RestaurantTM in the state of Missouri.
Sassafras seats 130 people inside, with an additional 100 seats outside. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. year-round, with lunch served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
From April through October, the Garden offers a second, small dining option: Terrace Café, located in the Kemper Center for Home Gardening. The Terrace Café seats 24 people inside, with an additional 20 seats scattered outside. Hours are Monday—Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday—Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Large parties and those who require greater efficiency may wish to pre-arrange
boxed lunches. Luncheon space is limited and not guaranteed; therefore, a minimum of three weeks advance notice is required. A small fee applies to groups who are placed in private areas.
Vouchers
Groups of 15 or more also have the option to pre-order vouchers allowing the participants in a group to eat in either Sassafras or Terrace Café, advance payment is required. The dollar value of the vouchers is selected by the group (tax is charged at both restaurants and should be considered when selecting the dollar amount). Vouchers can only be redeemed on the date of the visit. A minimum of three weeks advance notice is required.
Note: Seating in Sassafras and Terrace Café is limited and available first-come, first-served; tables cannot be reserved. Terrace Café is closed November—March.
