Culture

Easily grown in average, medium, well-drained soils in full sun. Needs full sun for best flowering, but will tolerate some light shade. Prune as needed immediately after flowering.

Noteworthy Characteristics

‘Canary’ is a yellow-flowered weigela. This is an upright, rounded, deciduous shrub that grows to 4-5’ tall with arching branches. Butter yellow, funnel-shaped flowers appear in late April or May. Additional sparse repeat bloom may appear as the summer progresses. Lance-shaped glossy green leaves.

Problems

Leaf spot and crown gall may appear. Watch for Japanese beetles.
