Winter hardy to USDA Zones 8-10 where it is best grown in evenly moist but well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. Needs a support structure on which to grow.
Noteworthy Characteristics
Camptosema praeandinum is a vine-like shrub of the pea family that typically grows to 4-6’ tall. It is native to Argentina. It is noted for producing spikes of orange tubular pea-like flowers which bloom in racemes from the leaf axils of stems clad with alternate pinnate leaves.
Genus name comes from the Greek word kamptos meaning curved and sema meaning a standard in reference to curved appendages found on the bases of the petal standards.
