The Garden offers unpaid internships designed for you to obtain academic credit or credentials to fulfill requirements of an apprenticeship or to experience professional development, perhaps in an area new to your career.  Unpaid interns receive free admission to the Garden, as well as discounts at our retail shops and Sassafras Cafe during the internship period.

Graphic Design Intern –Communications


Graphic Design Intern

Are you looking for real experience to help boost your resume and add recognizable pieces to your portfolio? Our graphic design internship is the perfect opportunity to learn what they didn't teach you in school!

Based on skill and aptitude, the design intern will participate in the complete creative cycle — design, proofing, production, quote printing, and office skills. Recent interns have designed ads, posters, invitations, an education course catalog, a billboard, and handled all the support pieces for the Japanese Festival (attendance of 35,000 people). The Missouri Botanical Garden is easily recognized by interviewers reviewing your resume and portfolio.

Recent grads or students that are near completing their B.A. in Graphic Design.
Proficiency in InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator, Mac OSX platform, scanning, and color correction. Must have own transportation.

Internship dates: (3½ months)
Summer: May – mid-August 
Fall: September – mid-December 
Spring: January – April 
Hours: part-time, minimum 20 hours/week; flexible schedule

Unpaid, but may be arranged for college credit. Includes free admission to the
Garden, its festivals and events, and its off-site family of attractions.
