The Garden offers unpaid internships designed for you to obtain academic credit or credentials to fulfill requirements of an apprenticeship or to experience professional development, perhaps in an area new to your career.  Unpaid interns receive free admission to the Garden, as well as discounts at our retail shops and Sassafras Cafe during the internship period.

Photography Intern–Communications


Photography Intern    
Classification:  Part time, Intern (unpaid)

The Photography Intern at the Missouri Botanical Garden will function as a staff photographer. They will be sent on a wide variety of different types of photo assignments including events, grip-and-grins, landscape beauty shots, macros, and editorial images. They will also be trained to coordinate photo requests and archive/process digital files. Recent interns have had their photos published in the Garden’s Bulletin magazine, ads in a variety of newspapers and magazines, and on Garden posters, flyers, and other support pieces.

Recent grads or students that are near completing their B.A. in Photography/Arts. Coursework completed in photography, specializing in digital cameras. Proficiency in Photoshop for Mac OSX Platform, scanning, and color correction. Video camera and basic editing skills a plus. Must have your own digital camera, cell phone, and transportation.

Internship dates: (3½ months)
Summer: May – mid-August 
Fall: September – mid-December
Spring: January – April
Hours: part time, 20 hours per week

Unpaid, but may be arranged for college credit. Includes free admission to the
Garden, its festivals and events, and its off-site family of attractions
