Living plant collections are the foundation of botanical gardens. They form the aesthetic for our visitors and support our mission through use in scientific research, conservation, education, and display. Join Rebecca Sucher, the Garden's Senior Manager of Living Collections for a discussion on how new species are targeted for the collection—and how they are acquired through fieldwork conducted around the globe. Becky will share recent research that predicts whether a species can survive our climate here in St. Louis and how this information is used in developing the living collections. Stories from her recent fieldwork include some of the plants collected for the new landscapes surrounding the Taylor Visitor Center.
