Job Opportunities

Whether you are just starting your career, looking for professional growth or re-entering the workforce, the Garden may have just the right opportunity. Not all of our 500+ positions require knowledge of botany and science. We also have opportunities in accounting, marketing, education, sustainability, facilities support and a variety of other areas. And the roles are both part and full time, and seasonal as well as regular.

We are as committed today as our founder, Henry Shaw, was 150+ years ago when he declared the Garden " . . . for the use and enjoyment of the public for all time. . ." We expect each of our employees to help live up to that commitment. The Garden holds a rich history, a strong foundation and a growing future. Come grow with us where being an employee can truly make the world a better place.

How to Apply

Fellowships

Fellowships at The Garden are often available to professionals who have received at least an undergraduate degree in the field of botany/plant sciences from universities, governmental and non-governmental institutions and organizations in Mexico, Central America, South America, Madagascar, Vietnam and Tanzania.  Research fields are limited to plant systematics, biogeography, ecology and conservation.

The Fellowship is intended to support scientists by providing funding that will allow research to be conducted at The Garden, as well as allow participation in interdisciplinary activities that will enrich overall experience and strengthen professional development.  Visit Research for a complete listing of available Fellowships.

Internships

The Missouri Botanical Garden offers year-round internship opportunities, both paid and unpaid, within a variety of departments.  Usually the selected interns are college juniors or above, although underclass exceptions can be made. Garden staff works closely with interns to make the experience rewarding and meaningful.  Required hours are developed within each department by each position's supervisor and in conjunction with any requirements. All internships remain open until filled.
