Fairy rings
Mushrooms growing in a circle are called fairy rings. Most commonly they are encountered in lawns but can also be found in plant beds. They are more apt to develop in soil that is overly wet and contains an abundance of organic material. Dead and decaying tree and shrubs in the soil is a common source of food for the fungal mycelium to feed on before the fruiting bodies, the mushrooms, emerge from the soil.
