Scout BioBlitz at Shaw Nature Reserve
Saturday, October 12, 2019
10 a.m. to noon

$5/person ages 3 and up (Scout families welcome!)
1 chaperone per five children is required

Butterfly in meadow Experience the beauty of Shaw Nature Reserve’s fall colors while hiking the trails and documenting biodiversity! During this BioBlitz, Scouts will use the free iNaturalist app (or a digital camera) to document the most species possible—plants, birds, insects, everything! Observations will be shared with researchers and scientists using iNaturalist. Prizes will be given out to the iNaturalist account with the most observations and also the most species at the end of the day.

Time slots: When registering, you will choose a 30 minute time slot in which a Missouri Botanical Garden staff member will help guide you. In order to provide you with the best guidance possible, each slot’s registration max is 20 people. Groups of more than 20 will be separated. You may, of course, stay and document species until the event ends at noon. If you choose the last time slot, you may choose to come earlier and document species without a staff member’s guidance, then meet your staff member at check-in at the chosen time for guidance and assistance. We ask that you check in 10 minutes prior to your scheduled time slot.

Registration ends October 9 at 5 p.m.
