Garden on the Go packs include hands-on activities for families to explore the Garden together in a new way. Each pack is designed with a theme and includes activity journals and an activity guide detailing the activities in the pack. Garden on the Go packs are recommended for families with children ages 6–12 but can be adjusted for many ages.
Garden on the Go packs are available at the Brookings Exploration Center year round on a first-come basis. Visitors may borrow a pack as part of their general Garden admission fees. Garden on the Go packs must be returned to the Brookings Exploration Center by 4:30 p.m.
Journey to Seiwa-En
This Garden on the Go pack explores the Japanese Garden. It includes a guide book and activities to help you better understand and appreciate the Japanese Garden. Children can find a giant turtle, rake their own miniature gravel garden, build a pagoda of small blocks, and learn about lotus, bamboo and giant koi along the way.
Art in the Garden
This Garden on the Go pack explores the art that can be found here at the Garden. The pack includes journals and art supplies that can be used to create personal works of art. Learn about sculptures in the Garden, try different drawing exercises or just let your young artist experiment on their own.
