Caesalpinia pulcherrima

Scientific Name: Caesalpinia pulcherrima

Description:

Caesalpinia pulcherrima, a member of the bean family, can be found throughout tropical America. This species has several common names, including pride of Barbados, peacock flower and dwarf Poinciana. The plant is a shrub or small tree with thorny stems growing about 10 feet tall. In the tropics, Caesalpinia pulcherrima has been used as a thorny barrier hedge, acting as a flowering fence.
