Scientific Name: Clerodendrum splendens
Common Name: Glorybower
Native Location: Tropical West Africa
Description: Clerodendrum splendens (Verbenaceae), or flaming glorybower, is native to tropical West Africa. Flaming glorybower is an evergreen, twining climber with rich, green leaves and woody stems. The bunches of scarlet flowers produced at the tips of the branches are a great nectar source for butterflies. Flaming glorybower can be found growing up the pillars in the butterfly conservatory and exhibits its peak flowering at the Butterfly House during December and January.
