Clerodendrum quadriloculare

Starburst Bush

Scientific Name: Clerodendrum quadriloculare
Common Name: Glorybower, Starburst Bush
Native Location: Africa and the Pacific Islands
Description: This beautiful shrub only blooms once a year in our conservatory, but it puts on quite a show when it does. The clusters of tubular, pale pink flowers can be 8-12 inches across. The flowers are a good nectar source for our butterflies. It has attractive two tone leaves which are dark green on the upperside and purple underneath. It is usually grown as a shrub and can reach 10-15 feet, but it can be pruned into a tree form. It prefers full sun and moist well-drained soil. It spreads by suckers which can be a problem if not controlled.
