Oncidinae

Scientific Name: Oncidinae
Common Name: Oncidium 'Sharry Baby'
Native Location: Caribbean through Central America
Description: Oncidium 'Sharry Baby' is one of the most popular cultivars of orchid available. The incredible fragrance of its blooms is irresistible. The fragrance has been compared to chocolate or vanilla. The burgundy and white or yellow blooms are small, but a single spike may be up to 30 inches long. Sharry Baby will often bloom more than once a year under the right conditions. As an epiphytic orchid, it would be found in its native habitat growing on trees, but it can be grown easily in the home in pots. This orchid requires a thorough watering only every 5-7 days and thrives in high humidity. Cool nights and warm days are a good combination. Oncidium 'Sharry Baby' will benefit from a shady location outside in the summer.
