Volunteers interested in contributing to lab research to help conserve endangered plants, undergraduate students gaining lab experience in genetics, and prospective graduate students interested in pursuing research in plant conservation genetics (in conjunction with faculty at neighboring universities) are encouraged to contact Christine Edwards at Christine.Edwards@mobot.org

Plant Conservation and Ecology

        

Volunteers interested in working to help conserve rare plant species are encouraged to contact our lab group. Available work for volunteers includes:

  • Laboratory work: Seed cleaning, monitoring experiments in growth chambers and   greenhouses, and database  management
  • Seasonal field work in the local region (depending on experience and scheduling availability)
  • Reviewing and curating scientific literature
  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and scientific programming
