Horticulturists make the Missouri Botanical Garden a world-leading showplace for plants. These experts manage a diverse living collection that provides beauty while supporting global plant research and conservation. You’ll find them caring for water lilies and other aquatics in hip-waders. They prune, fertilize, and winterize rose gardens. They design, plant, and maintain thousands of annuals in beds and displays. They sculpt, study, and cultivate six international display gardens.

For more than 150 years, beautiful display gardens have connected our community to the Garden’s global mission. Garden horticulturists work with colleagues across the world researching, studying, and caring for rare and endangered plants. They maintain a living collection of more than 16,000 different kinds of plants, including a canopy of 5,000 trees. They curate the historic orchid collection and grow hundreds of poinsettias and conifers for the holiday show. Horticulturists care for it all.Horticulture staff in the Climatron
