Frequently Asked Questions
Questions About Borrowing Educational Resources

What resources circulate?
Circulating materials include activity kits and models/displays.

Who may check out materials?
Certified and student teachers, homeschool educators, community youth program leaders (e.g., scouts) and representatives of other cultural institutions are welcome to borrow materials.

How long can I borrow materials?
Circulating materials may be kept for up to two weeks.

Can I renew?
A renewal for one week can be arranged as long as no other teacher has reserved the item(s) in question. Call (314) 577-9501 prior to the item due date to arrange a renewal.

Do you send/mail resources?
Due to cost and logistical concerns, we are unable to mail circulating materials.

Can I reserve materials in advance?
Circulating materials may be reserved by contacting (314) 577-9501. We recommend that you call to reconfirm the availability of the materials before coming to the Garden.

How many kits can I check out?
Currently there is no limit on kits that can be reserved/checked-out. Be mindful, though, that many are bulky (three boxes or more) and each requires a non-refundable circulation fee.

Are there circulating kits for earning scout merit badges?
No, but we do have scout classes for which you may register online.

Can I book classroom programs/trips through you?

No. You can register for field trips online. Please call the School Programs Registrar at (314) 577-5140 if you have further questions.
