Scout Merit Badge Skill Centers
Boy scouts viewing desert show

Our one-day skill centers are designed for scouts to work on merit badges with Garden professionals who are certified merit badge counselors.

Pricing and Details

  • Cost per scout: $15/public; $12/member
  • Chaperone ratio—per BSA guidelines, there must be one participating scout buddy for each participating scout. This buddy participates free of cost if he or she is an accompanying adult. Buddies who are scouts must register for the skill center. Buddies should plan to be with their scout for the duration of the skill center. Additional chaperones must pay Garden admission.
  • Merit badge pre-requisites (requirements not covered during the skill center) are not required to attend, but completing them in advance is preferred. The merit badge counselor can work with your scout after the skill center is over.

Scheduling and Registration

  • Registration is online only. A registration link will appear at 9 a.m. the day that registration opens.
  • Scouts MUST pre-register. Spots go very quickly, so register early!
  • Skill centers are offered a few times per year, so check back for new ones!
  • Program fees are due immediately upon registration.
