Open to all scouting organizations and scout families

All St. Louis-area scouts are invited to this special event at Shaw Nature Reserve. This self-guided event includes

  • the opportunity to work on scouting award work with Garden professionals (see award work available at bottom of this page) and complete self-guided requirements with your group
  • nature and STEM-based activities from program partners like the Missouri Department of Conservation and the Saint Louis Zoo
  • Letterboxing in the prairie
  • free play in the Nature Explore Classroom

Upon check-in, Scouts will receive a worksheet that they will use to complete the award work below. Some requirements are self-guided, while others are to be completed with staff and volunteers at tables near the Glassberg Pavilions.

This event will take place rain or shine. Please be prepared for outdoor play, some moderate hiking and insects! If you wish to eat lunch after the event, you can bring your lunch and picnic blankets and eat at the picnic tables near the Visitor's Center, the Maritz Trail House or at the Glassberg Pavilions, or find a shady spot in the grass. There is no grilling or cooking over fire at Shaw Nature Reserve.

One chaperone per 5 scouts is required.
Cost: $5 per person, ages 3 and up.
