Celebrate Spring During Meet Me Outdoors in St. Louis Festival

Celebrate the Missouri Botanical Garden’s seasonal openings during the “Meet Me Outdoors in St. Louis” weekend April 2-3. Activities include the seasonal reopenings of the Doris I. Schnuck Children’s Garden, Tower Grove House, Café Flora and tram rides. The newly renovated Brookings Exploration Center and the new PlantLab, a greenhouse-like space for hands-on learning will also open. There will be exhibitors on a variety of nature-related topics and an opportunity to take home a native tree.  Full story.

Best of Missouri Expands to Welcome Midwestern States

The Missouri Botanical Garden announces the 23rd anniversary of the Best of Missouri Market and will now welcome vendors from neighboring states. The BEST OF MISSOURI MARKET & MORE will take place at the Missouri Botanical Garden October 3-5, 2014 from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Full story.

Celebrate Summer at the Butterfly House

From butterflies to bugs to fireflies to gnomes, visit the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House this summer for fun for the whole family. Now through Labor Day the Butterfly House is open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with additional evening programming throughout the summer. The Butterfly House and St. Louis Carousel have partnered to offer the joint Faust Park Fun Pass now through September 1. Visitors can purchase a $10 pass which will include Butterfly House admission and unlimited rides on the St. Louis Carousel. Full story.

Doris I. Schnuck Children’s Garden Opens for the Season March 29

Leave winter behind and spring into another season of activities at the Doris I. Schnuck Children’s Garden. Families can explore the great outdoors and experience all the Children’s Garden has to offer: a waterfall, steamboat, cave, rope bridges, tree house and more! March Morpho Mania at the Butterfly House

Enjoy the beauty of a rainforest without ever leaving Missouri during the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House’s annual March Morpho Mania® event. Nearly 3,000 Blue Morpho butterflies will be in free-flight inside the 8,000-square-foot tropical Conservatory for this annual event. Missouri Botanical Garden Announces Nature Connects Exhibit for Summer 2014

The Missouri Botanical Garden is pleased to announce it will play host to a new exhibit Nature Connects, Art with LEGO® bricks this summer. Nature Connects features larger than life sculptures built with LEGO bricks. The 12 installations featuring 25 individual LEGO brick sculptures will be housed in the Climatron and Shoenberg Temperate House. The sculptures have a natural theme and include animals, plants and people.The exhibit opens to the public May 24 and runs through September 7.

Winter Events at the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House

Escape the cold weather and surround yourself with one of nature’s “jewels” during the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House’s Winter Jewels celebration. Enjoy the warm temperatures inside the conservatory as you marvel at the regal Monarch butterflies. For the first time in the Butterfly House’s 15-year history, Monarchs from El Bosque Nuevo, a butterfly conservation organization in Costa Rica, will populate the conservatory. Full story.

Tickets on Sale for Garden Glow

Tickets are now on sale for Garden Glow 2013, the Missouri Botanical Garden’s first-ever winter light exhibit. Visitors will have the opportunity to stroll through the Garden at night surrounded by a spectacle of unique light installations. The exhibit opens Nov. 23, 2013 and runs through Jan. 4, 2014. Tickets are date-specific and sold in limited quantities. Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.mobot.org/glow. For the first time in the Garden’s history, hundreds of thousands of lights will adorn the Climatron®, Kaeser Memorial Maze, Central Axis, Tower Grove House and other iconic locations with unique color combinations.
