Celebrate Summer at the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House

From butterflies to bugs to picnics and fireflies, the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House is serving up fun for families all summer long. Summer hours begin May 27 and run through September 2 with the Butterfly House open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with additional programming on several summer nights. Full story.

March Morpho Mania Returns to the Butterfly House

Enjoy the beauty of a rainforest without ever leaving Missouri during the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House’s annual March Morpho Mania event. Nearly 3,000 Blue Morpho butterflies will be in free-flight inside the 8,000-square-foot tropical conservatory for this annual event. March Morpho Mania offers visitors an opportunity to see the largest collection of Blue Morpho butterflies in the United States.

Butterfly House Closed January 1-25 for Renovations, Reopens January 26 for Hot! Hot! Hot!

Toss aside your coats and hats and step into the tropics at the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House’s annual beach-themed event Hot! Hot! Hot! presented by Scottrade. Families can take a “cruise” through the Butterfly House and bask in the 85 degree temperature of the 8,000 square-foot conservatory. Hot! Hot! Hot! will give visitors a chance to see the updated Butterfly House which will be closed January 1-25 for maintenance and renovations.

Butterfly House Celebrates the Holiday Season With Winter Jewels and Supper with Santa

Escape the cold weather and surround yourself with the colors of the season during the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House’s Winter Jewels celebration. Enjoy the warm temperatures in the conservatory and marvel at the majestic Ruby Lacewing and Emerald Peacock butterflies. Booterflies Features Halloween Fun For Families at the Butterfly House, Oct. 20-21

Children can wear their Halloween costumes, play insect-inspired games and make spooktacular crafts during the annual Booterflies Halloween party at the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House. Owl Butterflies Take Flight During October Owls and Orchids

This fall more than 1,000 owl butterflies will take flight during the third annual October Owls and Orchids at the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House in Faust Park. The Butterfly House will offer extended hours each Tuesday in October so that visitors can see these amazing creatures during their most active hours.
