Giving Tuesday: Bring on the Butterflies!

The Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House hosts 45,000 butterflies in the Tropical Conservatory in a single year. Our butterflies come to St. Louis from sustainable breeding grounds in Costa Rica, Ecuador, and other countries in Southeast Asia, South America, and Central America.

Each year, we spend $100,000 to ensure our butterflies and moths are sustainably farmed, properly packaged, and safely shipped to the Butterfly House in their chrysalides and cocoons. Our visitors enjoy watching the blue morphos, orange barred tigers, paper kites, red lacewings, and dozens of other species emerge from their wrappings and spread their wings in the conservatory.

This Giving Tuesday, make butterflies a part of your holiday list with a special gift to the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House.
