Celebrate the 193rd birthday of beloved poet and botanical enthusiast Emily Dickinson at the Stephen and Peter Sachs Musuem with two live performances of Dickinson's works and personal letters.
Actor Emily Stembridge will bring Dickinson's poems and personal letters to life, embodying the 19th century icon. Journey through the life, seasons and poetry of Emily Dickinson and let the words carry you from the blossoming springtime to the bitter yet hopeful winter. In this short play, we invite you to live and laugh among the flowers interwoven in her words.
Stembridge will perform twice on Dec. 10 in honor of Dickinson's birthday: at 11 a.m. (ASL interpretation available) and at 1p.m. This event is included with admission to the Garden.
This event is inspired by the current exhibition at the Sachs Museum of This Earthen Door, artworks by Leah Sobsey and Amanda Marchand that interpret the historic poet’s personal herbarium, garden, and love of plants.
