Almost two of every five known plant species are threatened with extinction due to large-scale anthropogenic pressures such as land use conversion and climate change. Given these challenges, ex situ living collections are needed to support in situ conservation efforts. Acknowledging this need, there is interest in developing living plant collections for ex situ conservation that aim to represent wild plants species of conservation concern.

This app demonstrates how practitioners may design ex situ living collections for the conservation of a particular species, using a model recently developed to account for plant death (Thomas et al. 2023).
