Seeds of Resilience: What Herbs Teach Us About Adaptation and Growth
Monday, October 13 | 1:30 p.m.
From lavender thriving in dry soil to mint spreading with unstoppable vitality, herbs demonstrate remarkable resilience in the face of challenges. They are more than plants—they are living teachers, carrying stories of renewal, endurance, and connection across generations. In this keynote, audiences will discover how the lessons of herbs mirror our own human journey: the ability to adapt, to find strength in community, and to flourish even in difficult circumstances. By looking to the wisdom of the natural world, we uncover timeless guidance for cultivating resilience in our daily lives.

The Missouri Botanical Garden is situated on ancestral and traditional land of the Chickasaw Nation, Illini Tribe, Ioway Tribe, Kickapoo Tribe, Osage Nation, Otoe-Missouria Tribe, and the Quapaw Nation.

We acknowledge the ongoing relationships these Nations have with this land and urge non-Native people to educate themselves about this history and about the contemporary work of tribal sovereignty within these Nations.

Through this acknowledgement, we honor the Elders and their descendants of these Indigenous Nations in order to bring visibility to these long-silenced histories while working toward a more just and equitable future.
