(ST. LOUIS): With the rising popularity of cacti and succulents, the Henry Shaw Cactus and Succulent Society Plant Show and Sale is the perfect place to pick up plants to add to your growing succulent garden or to purchase your first succulents and get in on the trend.
The Henry Shaw Cactus and Succulent Society will hold their annual show and sale on July 27 and 28 at the Ridgway Visitor Center in the Missouri Botanical Garden, 4344 Shaw Blvd. The Show and Sale is the biggest cactus and succulent show and sale in the Midwest!
See hundreds of award-winning cacti and succulents in over 150 classes at HSCSS' plant show. Then, hit the sales tables to choose from thousands of specimens and starter plants. Cacti and succulents of all sizes and shapes will be available for viewing and purchase. Choose from thousands of plants appealing to varied tastes and experience levels, with pricing starting at $2.
Members will be on hand to offer plant information care sheets and to answer questions from novices and more experienced growers. The show and sale admission is included with admission to the garden.
Bring the entire family and stop by the Kids’ Corner where children 12 and under will be encouraged to examine and bring home finger-friendly succulents.
The society has a long history with the garden and has held meetings at the Missouri Botanical Garden for more than 75 years. In 1942, Ladislaus Cutak called a meeting at the Missouri Botanical Garden for the express purpose of organizing acactus club. Although only 12 people attended that first meeting, their early efforts steadily evolved into the active, modernHenry Shaw Cactus and Succulent Society with over 100 members today. Consider joining the Henry Shaw Cactus and Succulent Society, an affiliate chapter of the Cactus and Succulent Society of America. Meetings highlight guest speakers presenting various programs of interest to succulent hobbyists. Hands-on workshops on pruning, potting and dividing are held throughout the year. Members are encouraged to bring in plants to show off and share their cultivation secrets.

The show and sale are included with Missouri Botanical Garden admission of $14 for adults and free for children ages 12 and under. St. Louis City and County residents enjoy discounted admission of $6 and free admission on most Wednesday and Saturday mornings until noon. Missouri Botanical Garden members are free.
The Missouri Botanical Garden is located at 4344 Shaw Blvd. in south St. Louis, accessible from Interstate 44 at the Vandeventer exit and from Interstate 64 at the Kingshighway North and South exit. Free parking is available on site and two blocks west at the corner of Shaw and Vandeventer.
