(ST. LOUIS): See hundreds of orchids from one of the world's largest collections at the 2020 Orchid Show, opening February 1 at the Missouri Botanical Garden.

This year’s Orchid Show theme is “Mayan-inspired,” with an artistic twist.

The show will feature a presentation of moss-covered mannequins donning lavish botanical headdresses, each created by members of the American Institute of Floral Designers. The Orthwein Floral Display Hall will transform into a lush rainforest filled with vibrant blooming orchids and tropical flora of Mesoamerica.

The Orchid Show is a once-a-year opportunity to view a rotating display of hundreds of orchids from the Garden's living collection, which is one of the largest and oldest in the world. The display will also showcase the Garden’s extensive collection of tropical flora.

The Garden will hold two Orchid Nights wine and spirit tastings events. Visit the show in the evening and step into the landscape of beautiful blooming orchids while you take in live music and sample libations from local breweries, wineries and distilleries. Cash bar and small bites are also available for purchase.

Orchid Nights will take place on February 13 and March 5. Tickets are available online or at the door. The cost is $15 for Garden members and $20 for nonmembers.

On February 13, enjoy a special Valentine's Dinner at Orchid Nights. Tickets include a three-course meal, drinks and live music in Spink Pavilion. Tickets must be purchased in advance and are $75 per person.

Orchid Show admission is $5 per person (ages 3 and older), in addition to general Garden admission ($14 for adults; $6 for St. Louis City and County residents with free admission Wednesdays and Saturdays until noon; free for children ages 12 and younger). Missouri Botanical Garden members enjoy free general admission along with free Orchid Show admission.

The Missouri Botanical Garden is located at 4344 Shaw Blvd. in south St. Louis, accessible from Interstate 44 at the Vandeventer exit and from Interstate 64 at the Kingshighway North and South exit. Free parking is available on site and two blocks west at the corner of Shaw and Vandeventer.
