Butterfly House Reopens with Morpho Mardi Gras

Butterfly House will be open seven days a week during the event

For Immediate Release

(CHESTERFIELD) The Butterfly House in Chesterfield reopens on Monday, February 1, with Morpho Mardi Gras. The reopening follows a month-long closure for annual maintenance.

The Butterfly House will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily from Feb. 1 to Feb. 16 for Morpho Mardi Gras.

For two weeks only, visitors will be immersed in a sea of blue as the Butterfly House floods the Tropical Conservatory with 1,500 blue morpho butterflies from Costa Rica. This family-friendly event includes festive displays as well as special activities on the weekends with COVID-safe games and crafts.

On Saturday, February 13, visitors can release their own butterfly into the conservatory during "Rise and Shine with Butterflies” from 9 to 10 a.m.

All Butterfly House visitors must purchase tickets in advance. Tickets are timed and dated. Visitors 6 and older must wear cloth face coverings that cover the nose and mouth, as required by St. Louis County.
