(CHESTERFIELD) - Next month, the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House hosts a special exhibition during spring break season, celebrating the final days of winter with a flood of Blue Morpho butterflies.
Morpho Mania features over 1,500 Blue Morpho butterflies inside the 8,0000-square-foot Tropical Conservatory. These majestic, vibrant butterflies come from a sustainable butterfly farm in Costa Rica and arrive at the Butterfly House as chrysalids. Our team of entomologists cares for the chrysalids until the Blue Morphos are ready to emerge and take flight.
The Blue Morphos join around 80 other species of butterflies from around the globe inside the lush Tropical Conservatory. This colorful rainbow of free-flying butterflies can be enjoyed by guests of all ages throughout March.
During the exhibition, guests can learn about butterflies’ role in nature, butterfly camouflage and native habitats of the Blue Morpho. The Butterfly House will host a daily story time at 11 a.m., as well as animal encounters every Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. starting March 7.
Normally closed on Mondays, Butterfly House will also be offering Bonus Mondays on March 16 and 23 to welcome families during Spring Break.
Morpho Mania is included in admission throughout the entire month of March. For more information, visit butterflyhouse.org/events.
