March Morpho Mania at the Butterfly House

Enjoy the beauty of a rainforest without ever leaving Missouri during the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House’s annual March Morpho Mania® event. Nearly 3,000 Blue Morpho butterflies will be in free-flight inside the 8,000-square-foot tropical Conservatory for this annual event. March Morpho Mania® offers visitors an opportunity to see the largest collection of Blue Morpho butterflies in the United States. March Morpho Mania® is included with regular admission.

Missouri Botanical Garden Announces Nature Connects Exhibit for Summer 2014

The Missouri Botanical Garden is pleased to announce it will play host to a new exhibit Nature Connects, Art with LEGO® bricks this summer. Nature Connects features larger than life sculptures built with LEGO bricks. The 12 installations featuring 25 individual LEGO brick sculptures will be housed in the Climatron and Shoenberg Temperate House. The sculptures have a natural theme and include animals, plants and people.The exhibit opens to the public May 24 and runs through September 7.

Celebrate South American During the 2014 Orchid Show

Travel to South America during the 2014 Orchid Show at the Missouri Botanical Garden. The annual show offers visitors a once-a-year opportunity to see a rotating display of hundreds of orchids from the Garden’s expansive permanent living collection. This year’s show is inspired by the work of Brazilian landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx.

Winter Events at the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House

Escape the cold weather and surround yourself with one of nature’s “jewels” during the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House’s Winter Jewels celebration. Enjoy the warm temperatures inside the conservatory as you marvel at the regal Monarch butterflies. For the first time in the Butterfly House’s 15-year history, Monarchs from El Bosque Nuevo, a butterfly conservation organization in Costa Rica, will populate the conservatory. Full story.


Tickets on Sale for Garden Glow

Tickets are now on sale for Garden Glow 2013, the Missouri Botanical Garden’s first-ever winter light exhibit. Visitors will have the opportunity to stroll through the Garden at night surrounded by a spectacle of unique light installations. The exhibit opens Nov. 23, 2013 and runs through Jan. 4, 2014. Tickets are date-specific and sold in limited quantities. Tickets can be purchased in advance at For the first time in the Garden’s history, hundreds of thousands of lights will adorn the Climatron®, Kaeser Memorial Maze, Central Axis, Tower Grove House and other iconic locations with unique color combinations.

Children’s Garden Celebrates End of Season with Fun for Families November 2-3

Say hello to fall as the Missouri Botanical Garden marks the seasonal close of the Doris I. Schnuck Children’s Garden. Children can have one final Missouri adventure while enjoying the change of seasons on Saturday Nov. 2 and Sunday Nov. 3. Sample Local Beers at the Garden’s Fall Fest-of-Ale

Sample beers from the area’s best breweries while enjoying an autumn evening in the Garden. Seventeen microbrewers will be on hand for this annual event held Friday, Oct. 18 from 6-9 p.m. Tickets are $35 per person or $25 for Garden members. The price increases after Sept. 18 to $40 per person or $30 for members. A Designated Driver ticket is available for $15.  The event includes light appetizers, a commemorative tasting glass (not included with designated driver ticket) and live music by Mike Mattingly.

Herbalooza Set for September 11

The Missouri Botanical Garden will celebrate the importance of herbs at its second annual Herbalooza on Wednesday, Sept. 11 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The event will be held in the Garden’s Victorian District. Admission is $12 for the general public and $10 for garden members. Advanced registration is required. A cash bar is available and participants must be 21 or older.
