The Peter H. Raven Library and Archives subscribes to several databases and a number of journals for use by our researchers. 

When you click on these links as a researcher connected with Missouri Botanical Garden, you will either see that you have full access provided by the Library or you will be asked to login with your Microsoft Office credentials.

  • BioOne Complete - A database of over 200 journals covering biological, ecological, and environmental sciences.
  • Global Plants on JSTOR - Containing over 3 million high resolution images of herbarium specimens, Global Plants also includes reference works and primary sources, such as collectors’ correspondence and diaries, illustrations, and photographs.
  • JSTOR - A collection of journals, eBooks, images, and primary sources. Many journals in this database have embargoes so recent content may not be available. Contact us to request these materials for you through our interlibrary loan service.

  • Biodiversity Heritage Library (BHL) - An international collaboration resulting in the world's largest compilation of historic and current biodiversity and natural history resources.
  • Botanicus - An open portal portal to historic botanical literature from the Missouri Botanical Garden Library.
  • Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) - An international network and data infrastructure funded by the world's governments and aimed at providing anyone, anywhere, open access to data about all types of life on Earth.
  • International Plant Names Index (IPNI) - a nomenclatural index of names of vascular plants published under the Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi and plants (ICN).
  • Taxonomic Literature II (TL2) - Published by the International Association for Plant Taxonomy, TL2 is an online, Smithsonian-hosted version of the 15-volume guide to the literature of systematic botany published between 1753 and 1940.
  • Tropicos - Millions of scanned specimens from the Missouri Botanical Garden Herbarium with linked references and specialized tools such as an ethnobotany search.
  • World Flora Online - An ambitious project to create an online flora of all known plants developed by an international consortium of organizations and institutions including the Missouri Botanical Garden.
