Contractor sealing the atticHome Performance with ENERGY STAR is a U.S. EPA/DOE program which is locally implemented by the EarthWays Center of the Missouri Botanical Garden.

We provide a list of participating contractor contact information to consumers when they inquire about whole house energy assessments. When your company tests a home we require that you report your findings and recommendations to us. Following any improvements made to the home, you retest and report those findings as well to verify gains in efficiency. As part of the HPwES program we will then do a third party quality assurance retest in 15 percent of improved homes.

We promote the program through various outreach efforts.

To be a part of the program; you will need to take the BPI building analyst and shell/envelope specialist training followed by online and field testing. Upon passing the tests and owning your own BPI required equipment, your name will be added to our list as a participant of the ENERGY STAR program.

Once contractors have been trained, demonstrated their command of the knowledge, and have their own equipment, they can begin performing Home Performance with ENERGY STAR assessments on their own. Contractors can use the ENERGY STAR name and logo in their marketing materials provided to homeowners requesting contractors offering Home Performance with ENERGY STAR.

To continue in the program, contractors must submit documentation from each assessment to Missouri/Illinois St. Louis Regional Home Performance with ENERGY STAR via quarterly reporting. Missouri/Illinois St. Louis Regional Home Performance with ENERGY STAR provides quality assurance to maintain high standards of service.
