Young visitor explores butterflies of the world

Discovery abounds for you and your students at the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House. We have a range of programs available to meet your needs. Bring your class for a field trip.

Facilitated Programs:

These programs include hands-on, student-driven investigations that connect them with the world of butterflies and other insects. We use living insects and real specimens, not easily obtained for classroom use, and each class includes an unforgettable trip through the Tropical Conservatory. Several program options are available. Learn more

Guided Tours:

A member of our education staff will accompany you throughout your guided tour. Your guide will share fascinating details about the Butterfly House and provide information not available on regular exhibit signs and displays. Your guide is also happy to answer all questions from you and your students. Learn more

Self-guided Tours:

Group rates are available for any group with fifteen or more paid admissions. One adult chaperone is required for every five students. Self-guided groups can experience the wonder of our Tropical Conservatory, the outdoor Native Habitat Garden with its interactive Nature T.R.E.K. trail, and our many indoor exhibits. Learn more

Outreach Programs:

If you cannot get to the Butterfly House, you can still have an interactive Butterfly House program come to you. Typical outreach program length is 1 hour, but we are happy to adjust the timing to your needs. There are several outreach programs for you to choose from, and we are also happy to work with you to design a custom program more aligned to what you are studying. Learn more
