WildFlower Concert Series


June 9, 16, 23 and 30, 2018
Whitmire Wildflower Garden
4 to 8 p.m., music from 5 to 7 p.m.

Shaw Nature Reserve presents the WildFlower Concert Series, in celebration of the Whitmire Wildflower Garden’s 25th Anniversary.

Local bands will perform on the Bascom House lawn from 5–7 p.m., surrounded by the beauty of the region’s largest and most diverse native plant garden. Visitors are invited to bring their chairs and picnic blankets and enjoy wine, beer and spirits from local vendors, as well as barbecue from Brown Jerry’s.

  • June 16, 2018 – The Gaslight Squares 
  • June 23, 2018 – The Dust Covers 
  • June 30, 2018 – The Flea Bitten Dawgs

The event opens at 4 p.m. Music starts at 5 p.m. The WildFlower Concert Series is included with your daily admission. Members are free.

No outside alcohol is permitted.

Whitmire Wildflower Garden

The Whitmire Wildflower Garden is a place for year-round walking and for appreciating and learning about nature and natural landscaping. 

Garden paths take you through five plant community areas (woodland, wetland, glade, savanna and prairie) and a home gardening area which includes a native perennial garden, rock garden, prairie garden, water garden, woodland garden and rain garden. Over 800 Missouri native plant species are on display.

Special Events

Shaw Nature Reserve hosts a variety of events throughout the year.   The Daffodil Dash and the Spring and Fall Shaw Wildflower Markets are annual events. We also have a biennial Prairie Day in September. New this summer is the WildFlower Concert Seriesand new this fall is the Fine Gardening Symposium
