Brazil: A Botanical and Cultural Journey

You are invited to travel with the Missouri Botanical Garden to discover the vibrant cultural treasures of Brazil and the unparalleled beauty of the Amazon rainforest. Dr. Lúcia Lohmann, Garden President and Director, will lead this trip to her native Brazil from June 18–27, 2026.

Highlights of this trip include:

  • Destinations in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and within the heart of the Amazon.
  • An evening at Teatro Cultura Artística with dinner hosted by Frederico Lohmann, followed by a guided tour and a concert by the Danish String Quartet.
  • Guided tour of the legendary home and gardens of Sítio Burle Marx, with behind-the-scenes insights into the artist’s iconic landscape designs and rare plant collections.
  • Sunrise and sunset boat rides, guided rainforest hikes, and canoe excursions at Mirante do Gavião, offering close encounters with the Amazon’s unique ecosystems.
