The Missouri Botanical Garden and more than 30 U.S. and Canadian institutions are collaborating on the Flora of North America, a thirty-volume ongoing publishing project that is the first comprehensive taxonomic guide to the extraordinary diversity of plant life covering our continent north of Mexico. The Flora includes an inventory of approximately 20,000 species of plants of North America north of Mexico, with about 60% of the native species endemic to the flora area. Published by Oxford University Press, the Flora can be purchased at oup.com/academic and is provided online at floranorthamerica.org.

Garden bryologists conduct inventories of mosses of selected regions, including Maine, the Ozarks, and the Great Plains, and prepare treatments of families of mosses for the flora.
