Be a Zero Waste Ambassador at Japanese Festival

Where is away? What is compost? What happens at a MRF? Ever ask yourself these questions? Do you know the answers? Interested in learning more about waste and how we can help the environment by practicing our 3R's at all times - even during big events and festivals?

We are seeking volunteers to serve as a Zero Waste Ambassadors at the Missouri Botanical Garden Japanese Festival, September 2-4

Not only will you helping the Garden divert waste, but you will be able to attend the events for free before or after your shift! Register as a volunteer at http://www.mobot.org/volunteer. The shifts will be posted SOON!

Join staff from the EarthWays Center of the Missouri Botanical Garden to learn how to be the best zero-waste ambassador you can be! Get a basic understanding of waste - including an overview of landfills, recycling centers, and composting operations, gain experience talking to others about waste, and so much more. The next training opportunity will be held virtually on Wednesday, August 30 from 6 to 7 p.m. To register for the training, contact Angelina O'Donnell at aodonnell@mobot.org or register here.


The Garden's sustainability division is seeking volunteers for upcoming traveling STEM days in the St. Louis region. We will be providing four activity stations for the students to learn about STEM.

Description: After participating students complete all of the provided activities, they will return to the passport table to receive a prize. Garden staff member Jill Maes will be there to manage the passport table and assist volunteers. The activities will be covering the following topics: pollination, seed dispersal, compost, and roots of plants.

Positions: There is a need for at least four volunteers for each day!

Timing: The timing of these days includes 30 minutes to set up and take down.

Lesson plans for the activities will be provided in advance. 😃
