Butterfly House’s 'Bug Chef’ cooks up tasty cicadas in live demonstration

On Friday, May 24, the bug experts of the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House will put on their chefs’ hats to cook up some cicada-centric dishes and educate the public on entomophagy – the practice of eating insects.

Missouri Botanical Garden announces latest Museum exhibition - Kernels of Culture: Maize Around the World

The Stephen and Peter Sachs Museum, located at the Missouri Botanical Garden, is highlighting the significant role maize has played in agriculture, scientific development and culture at its latest exhibition – Kernels of Culture: Maize Around the World. The exhibition will open on Friday, May 3 and will remain at the Sachs Museum through March 2025.

MISSOURI BOTANICAL GARDEN SCIENTISTS DESCRIBE NEW ORCHID SPECIES RELATED TO FAMOUS DARWIN’S ORCHID

Missouri Botanical Garden scientists and collaborators discovered and described a new orchid species in Central Madagascar with a record-setting nectar spur and close ties to the famous “Darwin’s orchid.” This novelty species needs urgent conservation action, scientists say.
