Outdoor Youth Corps

The Outdoor Youth Corps program is a paid education and workforce development program that connects youth ages 16 to 20 with projects and career paths focused on conservation, horticulture, sustainability and community engagement in the St. Louis area. This program provides hands on work and career/college readiness experience to participants by introducing them to a wide variety of career paths, training opportunities, and paid work experiences.

Outdoor Leadership Corps

The Outdoor Leadership Corps (OLC) program is a paid education and workforce development initiative in partnership with Great Rivers Greenway (GRG). The crew includes four Restoration Assistants and one Assistant Crew Leader under the guidance of the Conservation Education Instructor to maintain, restore, and beautify the landscapes along greenways throughout the greater St. Louis area.

Internships

We offer internship opportunities to those seeking to gain experience or college credit in outreach and education-related fields with an emphasis in conservation and sustainability.

  • EarthWays Sustainability Education Internship
    This paid summer intern assists sustainability education staff with implementation of sustainability education programs. Work projects will primarily focus on topics that include: waste and recycling, clean water, energy efficiency, and climate change. Interns will work with a variety of audiences including K–12 learners, educators, youth ages 16–20, and community partners. The intern will observe and learn about outdoor, experiential, and environmental/sustainability practices through hands-on experiences assisting with material preparation and program delivery for community and sustainability education programs, teacher professional development, youth environmental education workshops, and stewardship action projects.   • Outdoor Youth Corps Internship
    This paid summer internship opportunity works up to 28 hours a week and usually lasts from late May to early August. The intern will assist sustainability education staff with the Outdoor Youth Corps (OYC) Summer Crew, a paid workforce and education program for 10 participants ages 16–20. Interns will observe and learn about outdoor, experiential, and environmental/sustainability practices through hands-on field work and assisting program staff with material preparation and educational activities.   • EarthWays Energy Efficiency Programs/Sunflower+ Internship
    Assist in the management of our Energy Efficiency Programs as well as hands-on field experience in our Sunflower+ Project site in Old North.
