Since 2012, the Mississippi River Cities and Towns Initiative (MRCTI) has been promoting economic and environmental security and stability along the Mississippi River Corridor. Now comprised of 100 cities throughout all ten states of the waterway, MRCTI has brought about $1 billion in new federal spending, wrote and passed the Resilience Revolving Loan Fund Act, and executed new and innovative partnerships to achieve resilience throughout the corridor.  Join Executive Director Colin Wellenkamp for a look at the work of this Mayoral association to address its key priorities, including clean water, sustainable economies, disaster resilience and adaptation, food and water security, and celebrating the River’s culture and history. Colin will also detail a new and bold proposal developed by MRCTI Mayors called the Safeguarding the Mississippi River Together Act to restore and sustain the Mississippi River for at least a generation.
