Horticulture Intern

This internship is located at the Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis, MO.

The Missouri Botanical Garden is seeking 6 summer interns for the Horticulture Division. The internship provides practical, hands-on horticultural work experience in a unique garden setting. Interns will assist the Horticulture staff and volunteers in maintaining the tropical conservatories, annual displays, greenhouses, historic gardens, 23 demonstration gardens at the Kemper Center for Home Gardening as well as rotating through the gardens unique outdoor collections.

Duties include, but are not limited to, planting, pruning, watering, weeding and other plant maintenance tasks. Interns will have direct contact with visitors and be responsible for answering general questions about the Garden, the plant collection, and general horticultural questions. Internship requires an interest in horticulture, working on or recently completed a degree in horticultural or a related biological field and the ability to work under a variety of outdoor conditions.

Requirements:
Minimum 20 hours per week commitment

Qualifications:
Must be enrolled and have completed at least one semester in horticulture or a related field

Internship dates:
(3½ months)
Summer: May – mid-August (application deadline: April 1)

Compensation:
Unpaid. Includes free admission to the Garden, its festivals and eventsand its off-site family of attractions.
