Horticulture Education: Associate Degree, Certificate.
STLCC is committed to fostering students as they discover the art and science of horticulture, learn best management practices, and utilize cutting-edge technology to shape the landscapes of today and tomorrow.
Classes are infused with the latest technology and current green industry topics. The comprehensive program includes classroom and outdoor training in plant identification, plant propagation, pest and disease management, soil science, plant physiology, landscape design, grounds management, and sustainable landscapes.
With over 160 students, STLCC has the largest horticulture program in Missouri and confers more degrees annually than all other two and four year programs.
Industry leaders and passionate staff elevate the student experience with opportunities to discover, learn and practice in the program’s ten-acre garden classroom, state of the art greenhouses and labs.
Eighty percent of all STLCC Horticulture students find a job in the green industry prior to graduation. Graduates have gone on to lead teams at the National Park Service, Missouri Botanical Garden, Shaw Nature Reserve, and in countless public gardens, municipalities, retail and wholesale nurseries, design-build maintenance firms, and research and production greenhouses across the region.
With day and evening classes, the program is flexible and allows students to focus on their unique interests while earning an Associate of Applied Science in Horticulture or a Certificate of Horticulture.
